This time it is a pencil and paper investigation involving spatial and number patterns which often intrigues kids at a range of ages. Recently, I had the opportunity to run Professional Development sessions at Wade High School, Griffith, NSW. We based our time together around Discussion Lessons. The school has a good supply of Tricubes and we had a wonderful time in a Year 8 exploring surface area, volume and isometric drawing. All the work was simply based on Task 193, Surface Area With Tricube. Well not quite all the lesson - by the end of the hour the students were wanting to create challenges for each other.
